Jennifer Garner was born on April 17, 1972, at Houston, Texas but was raised within Charleston, West Virginia. Her dad, William John Garner, was a chemical engineer for Union Carbide. Patricia Ann Garner taught in an institution near to her. Desiring to follow his father's path and earn an engineering degree in chemical technology. Because she wished to become an actor, she moved into New York. As she appeared in Broadway shows, she also worked as a server at the nearby restaurant. She was in an appearance in the TV show "Felicity." The show was here that she met Scott Foley, her first husband. Garner got her first big part on the screen in "13 Goin' on 30", a romantic comedy which was highly acclaimed. Garner played a teenage girl trapped inside the adult body. Garner picked Gary Winick, who directed the movie. She and Winick continued to work together to find other projects after his passing. Garner was named an artist ambassador to Save the Children U.S.A. This role entails promoting nutritional literacy, education and early learning. Garner has been a member of the board of this non-profit organization from 2014. She advocates early preschool education. In her role as an ambassador for the organization, Garner regularly visits with families involved in the organization's Early Steps to School Success program, which coaches parents on ways to assist young children to learn.
